From today on, the Social Duchenne website is live and it will contain educational materials on Duchenne and Becker social issues collected by using storytelling.

Storytelling is a skill that can be developed and can be used to powerful effect. Developed and used purposefully, storytelling can contribute to inclusion and can make a difference. This is the goal of the Social Duchenne program in order to break distances, generate information, community, strength.

Social Duchenne is an international project created by the Duchenne Data Foundation to highlight psychosocial issues in Duchenne muscular dystrophy through educational materials, information and storytelling.

The program is based on two main paths: education and awareness.

  1. The educational activities are directed to the Duchenne Community and address specific needs, topics on how to deal with social and psychological issues for Duchenne in the daily life.
  2. Awareness activities are directed to the civil society by using storytelling. Stories place people in the condition of listening, stimulate closeness and help in communicating more. When we speak about living with Duchenne we also speak about inclusion, independence, human rights, equity, education, opportunity.
